Yong Guan

Yong Guan, Ph.D., is a registered patent agent with a dual focus on chemical and computer-implemented technologies. He specializes in patent drafting and prosecution, patentability and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, and strategic Office Action responses. Yong provides technical expertise to help clients secure and protect complex innovations across diverse fields, including energy storage and battery technologies, artificial intelligence, medical devices, medicinal chemistry, materials science, and mechanical engineering.

Prior to joining Maier & Maier PLLC, Yong worked in industry at Medicilon Inc., designing synthetic strategies for drug discovery and optimizing antibody–drug conjugate chemistries. He also served as a research scientist and adjunct teaching professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, focusing on asymmetric catalysis, natural product synthesis, and anticancer drug development.

Yong’s unique background—combining a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with a B.E. in Computer Science—enables him to bridge the gap between complex science and effective IP strategy, allowing him to navigate cross-disciplinary portfolios with precision.
