Maier & Maier PLLC believes in forging long-term relationships to grow intellectual property services over the years. With our overseas clients in mind, Maier & Maier PLLC offers both short and long term training programs designed to:
- Expose trainees to US patent law and patent practice;
- Broaden trainees’ exposure to our office practices and close proximity to the USPTO for valuable in person examiner interviews;
- Assist trainees in preparing for the US patent bar exam; and
- Provide the opportunity to expand their English language skills and bridge cultural differences.
Our client’s trainees are encouraged to work on their company’s or firm’s matters with support from our professionals who can provide detailed instruction and guidance on various issues pertaining to their work. Many of our professionals have advanced degrees and have practiced in the patent field for over 25 years, and most have significant experience as former U.S. Patent Examiners.
Trainees will be exposed to the practical aspects of U.S. patent application preparation and prosecution. Further, we have professionals that are fluent in the Japanese language to assist our trainees.
Personalized Goals
The trainee program is geared toward the interests and goals of the trainee. Trainees will have the opportunity to participate in lectures on various topics relating to U.S. patent practice, as well as discussions relating to law firm operations. Ms. Yuko Yokoyama is our director of our trainee educational group.
One aspect of our program encourages the trainee to choose one or more topics to research and present to our group. This preparation and presentation by the trainee will increase their awareness of the topic as well as expand their English speaking skills. Additionally, our Japanese-speaking staff will be available to assist with the preparation of the presentations as well as provide them with a comfortable environment in which to work.
